The WorkWell Audit is a very in-depth tool that the WSIB uses to measure your business in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act in Ontario. It is a 69-page questionnaire that requires you to describe exactly how you are managing workplace safety. Unfortunately a majority (close to 90%) of businesses will fail their first audit. The costs to a business if they fail this audit can be substantial.
Businesses that have a well defined and effective safety program in their workplace will have less accidents than a business that doesn't have a managed safety program. Regardless of what province you work in, there is legislation in place that indicates that all businesses in Canada must have a Health & Safety Policy in place and there is an expectation that all businesses will have something in place that will define how they are going to manage safety within their workplace.
